UNYT Scholars at the 1st International Balkan Symposium!
On March 7-8, 2024, UNYT’s Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Ilir Kalemaj, and Assoc. Prof. Lindita Xhanari from the Balkan Research Center, proudly represented our university at the 1st International Balkan Symposium. This prestigious event, organized by Trakya University in collaboration with the Governorship of Edirne, focused on exploring “Balkans and the traces of Turkish civilization in Balkan geography.”
Assoc. Prof. Ilir Kalemaj shared insights on “Şemseddin Sâmi Frashëri: A Forerunner of Turkish and Albanian Nation-States,” while Assoc. Prof. Lindita Xhanari presented a lecture on the “Characteristics of the Old Writings in the State Archives of Tirana and Their Importance in the Field of Turkology.”
Additionally, the Symposium featured the presentation of UNYT Press’s latest publication, “100 Years of Diplomatic Relations: Albania-Turkiye.” This esteemed work was introduced to the distinguished Turkish historian, Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, and the Rector of Trakya University, Prof. Dr. Erhan Tabakoğlu.
