The exhibition “SUPERMOSTRA ’22” by Prof. Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi comes to UNYT East Campus!
University of New York Tirana held a grand opening of the exhibition “SUPERMOSTRA ’22”, curated by the world-acclaimed Curator Prof. Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, at UNYT East Campus Premises.
The ceremony was attended by high-profile personalities of Italian cultural institutions and the architectural sphere, such as the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana, Mr. Alessandro Ruggera, the Curator of the SUPERMOSTRA ’22, Prof. Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, architects attending in person and via online, the Rector of UNYT, Prof. Dr. Erkan Erdemir, and Administrator Dr. R. Feridun Elgün.
In his opening speech, UNYT Rector, Prof. Dr. Erkan Erdemir, stated: “God creates round things, but people create flat things. The round part is related to architecture, and the other is related to engineering. The architecture and engineering in Albania are done together.”
In his welcoming speech, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana, Mr. Alessandro Ruggera, stated: “Architecture stands at the core of Italian culture; this is why we are presenting today the architecture of Italy in SUPERMOSTRA ’22. The necessity to innovate and to bring the tradition.”
The exhibition’s Curator, Prof. Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, stated, “SUPERMOSTRA ’22 is named like this for 22 architects in 2022. Next will be SUPERMOSTRA ’23, with 23 architects and in the year 2023. Super was the title used during the sections. Being virtual gives us a big audience by launching it digitally. We threw a snowball in hopes of being a great event. Not a creative time in architecture during this period. With SUPERMOSTRA, the fire under the ashes can light up. If you are clever, you can see something created from nothing. In moments of standstill, if you pay attention, you can see something going on.”
The Curator, Prof. Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi and the Co-Curator, Ilaria Olivieri, describe the intent of SUPERMOSTRA ’22 as the exhibition brings the work of twenty-two Italian Designers together. It aims to photograph the current state of architecture.
Some of the architects shared their remarks as well:
“It’s been a very nice human experience. Many of the SUPERMOSTRA ’22 are women, so is gender oriented.”
Ilaria Olivieri
“This project is connected with transportation and movement. It is the architecture of the nomade. It has been the most interesting experience because you could have a studio that can be transported to different places. This is a new type of architecture that is on movement, nomade.”
Alessia Maggio “Our mantra is to detach the architecture from the normal perspective, to have a gender perspective. Even Italian architecture is female. We want to enhance female architecture. We want to address a different kind of human values: architects that look at social equivalency.”
Francesca Perragni“It is very important when we prepare the building, we see the way we move in it, not only the functional things but even to focus on the people that work in the building. Also, we focus even on the people that use this building. When we create this type of building, we feel the people that will be there; we feel that we are part of the building. If you want to find the quality of the building, you have to understand the people that are part of it. The smiles of the people there do the quality of the building.”
Laura Roccha
Among the guests, UNYT was pleased to share this great exhibition with the matura students who look forward to participating in the Free Architecture courses annually organized by UNYT. The ceremony was followed with a visit to the exhibition, where the guest had the chance to see the great works of 22 acclaimed architects whose works were embodied in an art gallery made possible through Prof. Puglisi. The exhibition will remain public until March 18 at UNYT East Campus.
