Meet our Ambassadors, Stivi Canka
Stivi Canka is a freshman at the University of New York in Tirana, currently studying Political Science and International Relations. He is a member of the United Nations Youth Association in Albania, which is an organization that is focused on promoting the Model United Nations Initiative in Albania.
Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. Participating in a MUN helps students develop leadership skills, research, writing, public speaking, and problem-solving skills. That is why Stivi has been pursuing his career in Model UN since high school when he participated in his fir MUN. Ever since then, eager to grow, he has travelled from New York to Bangkok attending Model UN conferences.
In 2018, he was awarded “THE MOST OUTSTANDING” Delegate in AYIMUN Bangkok. In 2019, he participated in Future We Want MUN in New York as well as Model European Union Strasbourg (he has an inclination for European politics as well). He served as chair of the Stimulation Game 2019 and as Deputy-Secretary General of Model United Nations Albania 2019.
This year, he was selected as Secretary-General of Simulation Game 2020, which is a smaller-scale version of a Model United Nations conference that is going to be held in August.
Stivi encourages all the Albanian Youth to participate in different extracurricular activities and invites them all to be part of the University of New York Tirana, for he believes that it is the best way for young people in Albania to sharpen their public speaking skills and to learn more about the complex world of modern politics.
