On the 30th of June, the University of New York Tirana held its 20th Anniversary and Graduation Ceremony of 2022 at The Palace of Congresses, celebrating the 17th generation of graduating students. The ceremony was attended by Albanian and Turkish Institution representatives, ambassadors of various countries, academics, students, and their families.<\/p>\n
The Rector of UNYT, Prof. Dr. Erkan Erdemir, opened the ceremony, which was hosted by the famous Albanian artist Mrs. Gerta Heta. In his welcoming speech, Rector Erdemir addressed the accomplishments of UNYT by stating that: \u201cUNYT is already one of the best universities in Albania. With this vision, we aim to make UNYT one of the best universities in the Balkans as the first step. We think this is the best way to contribute to the country\u2019s economic development and reverse the brain drain\u201d.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was attended by high-profile personalities of Albanian and Turkish Institutions, such as; His Excellency Mr. Tayyar Kagan Atay – Ambassador of the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye, Prof. Dr. Ay\u015fen G\u00fcrcan – Member of the Board of Trustees of Turkish Maarif Foundation – Presidency Senior Counsellor – Member of the Council of Turkish Higher Education – Former Minister of Family and Social Policies, Mrs. Ermonela Felaj – Deputy Chairwomen of Albanian Assembly, Mrs. Albana Tole – Deputy Minister of Education of Albania, Mrs. Anuela Ristani – Deputy Mayor of Municipality of Tirana and Mr. Mesut \u00d6zbaysar – Country Representative of Turkish Maarif Foundation.<\/p>\n
UNYT has graduated its 17th generation of students in three levels of study; Ph.D., Master, and Bachelors. For more than a decade-long collaboration with the State University of New York, Empire State College, UNYT delivers dual degree diplomas for which Mrs. Francesca Cichello – SUNY ESC Executive Director of International Education, delivered to the students.<\/p>\n
This night was a celebration of the devotion of students, academics, and administrative staff, for which UNYT dedicated awards in the categories such as Best Master Student – Valedictorian – Excellence in Research – Excellence in Teaching – Community. For the first time in the history of UNYT, the Administrator, Dr. R. Feridun Elg\u00fcn presented the University Service Award to the pioneers among UNYT staff. A celebration that was given a standing ovation!<\/p>\n
In honor of this 20th Anniversary, the Albanian Folk Ensemble \u201cIsuf Myzyri\u201d and the Republic of T\u00fcrkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, State Folk Dance Ensemble, gave their best performances and rocked the stage.<\/p>\n
