“EU enlargement and integration Process following the Russian war against Ukraine” | Academic Seminar by Ambassador Faruk KAYMAKCI
UNYT was honored to welcome to its premises the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) & Director for EU Affairs of Türkiye, Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı. UNYT Balkan Research Center hosted an academic seminar on the topic “EU enlargement and integration Process following the Russian war against Ukraine,” which was held by Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı. The ambassador of Türkiye in Albania, H.E. Tayyar Kağan Atay, and many excellencies were present at the academic seminar.
In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan Erdemir stated, “Personally speaking, I cannot think of any other person as equipped as himself to deliver this seminar due to his 28 years of experience as a career diplomat and as one of the most prominent officials that have been working for Türkiye’s EU accession process. His presence here today is a great opportunity not only for international relations students of UNYT but also for our students that have an interest in global affairs.”
In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) & Director for EU Affairs of Türkiye, Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, stated, “In the Russian war against Ukraine, Turkiye stands on a strategic position, as it belongs to the West, Europe, and NATO. As a NATO member, Türkiye stands in the role of being the common language among the two countries. The reflections coming from this war, especially security gap, energy insecurity, economic fall and increasing irregular migration necessitate the EU and candidate Turkiye have closer coordination and strong collaboration leading to EU membership.”
