Students of UNYT visit the National Archives
Students of Advanced Research and Writing class at UNYT had the pleasure to visit the National Archives in Tirana, on the 21st of May. As one of the main research institutions in the country, the visit was enormously beneficial to students who want to use archives as resources for their research topics. After being presented with all the different sections of the archives, students were shown how to research online in the archival database as well as how to use the microfilm reader.
The highlights of the visit were two important departments in the archives: the Restoration department and the Photo Archive (Fototeka). In the former, students had the pleasure to see in practical terms how documents from the 15th century were being restored. Furthermore, they had the opportunity to see for the first time, pictures and drawings that were used for Albanian animated movies during the 70’ and that were now in the restoration process.
Students confessed that this was the first time that they visited the National Archives and were very much surprised by the richness of resources that can be found there. Some students expressed their willingness to become members of the archives and visit it again for studying purposes, in the future.
